At Walthamstow Primary Academy, we are committed to achieving the Best in Everyone. We strongly believe that every child, regardless of background, is entitled to a rich curriculum built on powerful, carefully sequenced knowledge. Our curriculum is designed to capture pupils’ interests, nurture individual talents, inspire high aspirations, and enable children to reach their full potential, while preparing them for life as responsible and informed citizens.

Our curriculum is underpinned by the core value of helping children to understand the world around them. We draw on educational research to inform our teaching and learning practices, ensuring we maximise cognitive development and foster a culture of lifelong, reflective learning. By the time pupils leave Walthamstow Primary Academy, they will have developed secure subject-specific skills and a strong foundation of factual knowledge, achieved through thoughtful curriculum design that prioritises progression, depth, and coherence.

The phonics scheme we deliver in school is Read, Write, Inc.

Religious Education

At Walthamstow Primary Academy, Religious Education is taught as part of our broad and balanced curriculum.

Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education lessons. If you are considering this, we encourage you to speak with the school to understand the RE curriculum and discuss any questions you may have.

Requests to withdraw a child from RE must be made in writing to the Principal. Where a child is withdrawn, appropriate alternative arrangements will be made during RE lessons.
