Guidance for Parents

This page will be kept updated with links to resources to enable you to continue learning from home.

Please see information below:

  • On the school website, you will see a Home Learning link on the front page.  Under this link, you will see folders for each year group.  You will need to click on the year link that is relevant to your child and all work, resources and videos that they require will be featured.  This information will be updated twice weekly by our teaching staff and available from 9:00am onwards.

The information that you and your child will see is:

  • Daily Maths video – there will be a link to the White Rose website.  All lessons are numbered, your child must work from lesson 1 onwards, by watching the video and then completing worksheets 1 – 4 on their year group learning page.
  • Daily English video – this will feature a voice over from one of our staff, explaining the learning that is to take place.  At the end of the video a task will be set with different challenge levels. The task should be completed on paper.
  • Weekly Topic diagram featuring different activities to complete around their area of learning.  This will include Art, Geography, and History etc. All work to be completed on lined paper.

In the Home Learning page you will find a link to extra activities for children to complete.  This page will also be updated weekly.

On a day to day basis there will be a ‘daily retrieval task’, this is where the child will complete a short activity on previous learning. This is crucial so they retain learning in their long-term memory.

Questions & Answers

We have had a few questions from parents and so we have put this leaflet together, which we hope will answers those questions.

We appreciate that this is not ‘normal’ circumstances and so we want to ensure that education can continue at home.

Question: Where are the children completing their work?

Answer: The children can complete their work on lined paper, on the work sheet or in books provided.

Question: Is the work going to be marked?

Answer: No, it is not going to be marked.

Question: Who shall the work be sent to?

Answer: Please do not send work into school, please tweet the work, using the class teacher’s twitter account.

All twitter accounts for all classes are listed on the website under each year.

Question: We are having issues with videos?

Answer: If they are third party videos, the school is unable to help with this issue.  Please wait a while and then try again.  Please bear in mind that there will be a lot of you trying to get onto the videos at the same time.

Question: We are worried about our children watching YouTube videos.

Answer: Videos are age related, we are trying to use other sources of videos, but YouTube have very good educational videos to watch.

Parents are to be working with their children to help support them.

Question: I don’t have a twitter account; how do I get one?

Answer: Please use this link to help you set up a twitter account

https://help.twitter.com/en/using-twitter/create-twitter-account

Question: What should I do if the link does not work?

Answer: Please type the link into the search bar

Teaching staff are more than happy to help and support with the work, please send your question via twitter, using the twitter accounts given for each class teacher and they will get back to you.

If you have any further question/comments or queries, please do email in as we want to ensure we all support parents/carers with the work that has been sent.
